Confessions of a Token Collector

Tokens title image small

I have a little bit of a confession to make. Well, it’s not so much a confession as an admission. An admission of a problem. Well, not so much a problem as an addiction. Which is in itself a problem, so I guess ultimately I’m admitting that I have a problem. And so the cycle continues.

Yugioh “Duelist Pack: Crow” Released!

Dualist_Pack_Crow

Everybody’s heard about Blackwing monsters, because they’re one of the hottest Decks to come out in years!

Blackwings first showed up on the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s TV show. They’re Crow’s favorite monsters. And ever since then, Duelists like you have been using Blackwings to win lots of Duels, including Championship tournament events!

Principles for Magic deck building

Here are 5 principles for deck building. This is not an exhaustive list.

1) Use efficient cards
2) Get around costs
3) Use synergy
4) Metagaming
5) Make consistent decks

This article will focus on the first 4 principles listed above. The 5th principle which we have already discussed here.

Of War, Peace and Battered skulls

Cawblade

As I begin writing this, I am currently preparing and brainstorming what I can run for my next FNM in order to get what little practice I can get in while being an Electrical Engineering student (yeah, I’m a whiner). Batterskull and Sword of War and Peace are sure to leave their drastic effects on the format (or to borrow the words of another writer…”leave a crater sized impact”).

Beginner’s preparation guide to tournaments

As with all other fellow duelists, I want to enjoy each and every game. Whether that is a casual game between friends or a match played at a tournament, every game should be full of fun, excitement and hopefully provides something that duelists can take home to improve their skills. However, there are simple mistakes made by duelists especially at tournaments that can lead to costly results, regret and bluntly, wreck your day.

New Phyrexia Games Day 11th June

New_Phyrxia_Games_Day

What is this?

Game Days are the first opportunity for you to play Standard on a global scale with the newest cards. This is a great time to get out there and test out those newly created decks.

Magic: The Gathering Deck Consistency

At the beginning of each game of Magic, you have to shuffle your deck into a random order. (In a tournament, overhand shuffling and pile shuffling is not sufficient). Your deck will play out better or worse depending on what order the cards end up in. A consistent deck is one that doesn’t greatly vary in power due to the random ordering of the cards.

Building a Deck Using Birthing Pod

Birthing Pod, Magic, New PhyrexiaI like the card Birthing Pod and think that a deck built around it would be a lot of fun to play. I really enjoy the interactions between this card and some of the other cards currently in standard. There seem to be two logical colour combinations to build a birthing pod deck in standard, Green/White and Green/Black.

Today we’ll discuss the green/black variant but I might be splashing blue for a card that has got a lot of hype since it was spoilt, Deceiver Exarch. The new Pestermite allows you to skip from a 2 drop to a 4 drop and the 4 drops are more exciting than the 3 drops you can get. Also the sooner you get to Acidic Slime the better.

Extreme Victories Released

A High-Tech War over Synchro Monsters!

For 3 years, Synchro Monsters have dominated the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG. Now they’ve reached their ultimate evolution. But something – or someone – has been waiting for them. It’s time for a showdown between the ultimate Synchro Monsters and the ultimate Synchro-Destroyers!

Tech Genus – The Top Tech!

Extreme Victory takes Synchro Monsters to their ultimate extreme, with the new T.G. (Tech Genus) monsters.  T.G. Decks are specially designed to crank out Synchro Monsters at a fast and furious pace. And they can do it over and over and over again.

T.G. Decks have super flexibility. When most T.G. monsters get destroyed, they let you add another T.G. monster to your hand, or Special Summon one from the Graveyard. This lets you upgrade your field set-up every turn, by getting exactly the monsters you need to do the Synchro Summons you want.

Top 5 cards from Hidden Arsenal 4

As most of you already know – Hidden Arsenal 4 (HA04) brings Trishula into the TCG environment, changing the game completely. While additional support to themes that are traditionally associated with the previous HA sets such as Jurrac, Naturia, Fabled and so forth are provided, what makes HA04 so good is the large number of cards that can be used in almost any deck, giving duelists additional strategies to outpace their opponents. So without further delays, let’s cover the top 5 cards from HA04.
