Top 5 cards from Galactic Overlord

Congratulations to everyone who participated in the Galactic Overlord (GAOV) sneak peek this weekend. I’m sure everyone enjoyed the event; especially given the chance to play with the latest theme which is the Hieratic Dragons and as the name suggests, is around Dragons and comes in consistently at a high rank at various tournaments in the OCG environment.

Deck Building Strategies 106

In my previous article, I covered the general Sideboard theories. Now, I’d like to cover practical techniques in sideboarding – techniques which many actually use in tournaments. Before going on though, I would like to make it absolutely clear that while I am personally comfortable with these techniques myself, they do require practice and in some cases (which I would be very surprised if so) may not suit them.

Major Rule Changes for Yugioh

As I started my usual daily routine of going around seeking various Yugioh related knowledge and updates, yesterday I noticed a major rule change announcement on the official Yugioh site. As any major rule change affect everyone, I thought I’ll just have a quick look and then come back to read it later. However, turns out that the more I read it, the more I realize how big and serious this major change is.

Over the weeks, I got some specific requests about what to write for my Deck Building Strategy articles and that topic was on Sideboarding. It is an essential part of the game especially at tournaments but at the same time my concern was would be too difficult for some of the younger readers out there.

However, given that it is a topic that needs to be covered either way and it’s better to start now than later, here it is.

Starter Deck: Xyz Symphony and Hidden Arsenal 05 Special Edition

Today I’d like to cover our first Starter deck since we move into an era of Xyz Monsters. As always, Starter decks contain mostly reprints but with some previously never released cards, this is an exciting product as the new cards are actually very powerful – which will be the focus of this article.

Now that I’ve covered the core theories of how to build a deck, let’s start focusing on the practical side of things – I’m sure some of you are itching to or have already stuck 40 cards together and are ready to duel, the practical side of things can get quite complex and I would like to take this chance to cover in a bit more detail on a topic which I don’t feel I see enough of – Resource Management.

The Current Meta (April 2012)

100th YCSIt’s been a few days since the largest TCG event in history of Yugioh concluded at Long Beach in the US. Being the 100th YCS held, the number of duelists attending also broke records – with over 4,000 duelists participating, this event definitely gives us a clear indication of what the environment will be, or at least for the next month or so until Galactic Overlord is released.

First things first, Dark World came first at YCS Long Beach. However, if you look at the Top 16 decks, we have 1 Chaos Piper, 1 Chain Burn, 1 Inzektor, 1 Dark World, 2 HERO, 3 Wind-Up and 7 Dino Rabbit. Let’s go over each of the decks, followed by why I think Dark World won and what’s coming up in the future after this historic event.

Deck Building Strategies 103

Welcome to the 3rd part of Deck Building Strategies. Unfortunately this series got put a bit off side due to the release of various exciting products in between which I had to cover first. But now, that’s all covered, so I’d like continue where I left off in part 2, with the remaining points on the checklist which I use myself when I am building a deck.

2012 Premium Tin

2012 Premuim Tin

Recent product releases were mostly reprints – which really helps duelists who missed out in the past at getting hard-to-get-cards again and/or powering up your deck at a price that is more affordable. However, as we all do, we want new cards.

Fortunately, the 2012 Premium Tin is just around the corner and it has been quite a while since a product with so many new cards in it has been released. As usual, I’ll try and cover as much as I can but since every single card in it is virtually new to everyone, this article will be a long one. So for those duelists who are prepared to face a barrage of new stuff (and a lot of text), read on.

Ra Yellow Megapack and ORCS SE

It’s been several weeks since the release of the latest structure deck and after looking at the contents, I decided to combine the Ra Yellow Megapack and ORCS Special Edition product reviews into a single article just to make life easier for everyone. You will see the reasons why I did that in the article as you read on, but there is one thing I can assure you – just because I combined 2 product reviews into a single one doesn’t mean they are bad. In fact, for some, it’s a good thing these products are finally available.
